Volunteering

The Spirit of Generosity

The spirit of generosity is reflected in each and every one of our volunteers and in the enriched experiences they give to our residents and clients.

Currently, over 100 volunteers support our services regularly through a wide range of activities, including:

  • Personal activities - such as companionship, hand massage, meal service
  • Group activities - such as games, crafts, entertainment, fitness, outings
  • Transport services - appointments and outings
  • Pastoral care
  • Assistance with fundraising, events and committees.

The range of activities varies depending on the interests, skills and choices of our volunteers, as well as the interests and choices of our residents and clients.

Benefits of Volunteering

Our volunteers tell us that volunteering at Catholic Homes is an enjoyable and satisfying experience. They enjoy giving to others and feeling part of our community, having fun and making new friends, as well as using and developing their skills.

New Volunteers Welcome

We welcome new volunteers who enjoy the company of seniors, are caring and compassionate, are good listeners and respect each person's right to dignity and choice. A sense of humour and a commitment to teamwork are also appreciated.

If you are interested in volunteering, we'd love to hear from you.

The Lifestyle Coordinator at the service location where you wish to volunteer or the CACP Case Manager will discuss with you the opportunities that best suit your interests, skills and availability. This process also involves a mandatory police check, as required by Government legislation.

Following acceptance, you will receive an initial orientation program, as well as ongoing support from the Lifestyle Coordinator or CACP Case Manager.
